PovzetekPri 6 bukvah (Fagus sylvatica L.) z rastišča Panška reka pri Ljubljani smo merili dimenzije trahej v branikah, nastalih v letih 2008, 2009 in 2010. Proučili smo razlike v dimenzijah prvih in zadnjih nastalih trahej v braniki, ter njihovo variabilnost v isti braniki po obodu drevesa. Branike smo od ranega proti kasnemu lesu razdelili na pasove po metodi tedenskih prirastkov. V vsakem pasu branike, ki je nastal v določenem tednu tekom rastne sezone, smo izmerili dimenzije trahej (površino, minimalni in maksimalni premer). Ugotovili smo, da je bila površina prvih trahej 3,11-krat večja od površine zadnjih trahej, minimalni premer prvih trahej je bil 1,65-krat večji in maksimalni premer 1,81-krat večji od zadnjih nastalih trahej. Podatki kažejo, da obstajajo statistično značilne razlike v površini trahej med prvo in zadnjenastalimi trahejami ter med branikami, nastalimi v različnih letih. Podobno smo ugotovili tudi za maksimalni in minimalni premer. Primerjava dimenzij trahej po obodu dreves je pokazala, da so imele največji standardni odklon površine prvih in zadnjih nastalih trahej v letu 2008. Relativni standardni odkloni minimalnega in maksimalnega premera so tako med leti, kakor tudi med prvimi in zadnjimi trahejami, zelo podobni. Minimalni in maksimalni premer trahej sta se izkazala kot najbolj relevantna podatka za ovrednotenje dimenzij trahej po braniki, saj imata najmanjši relativni standardni odklon. Površina trahej je do okoli 170. dne v letu (19. junija) dokaj konstantna, potem vse do okoli 220. dne v letu (8. avgusta) rahlo pada, zatem pa je zopet konstantna. Podobne trende smo opazili tudi pri minimalnih in maksimalnih premerih trahej.
The vessel dimensions in tree-rings formed in 2008, 2009 and 2010 were measured in 6 beech trees (Fagus sylvatica L.) growing at Panška Reka, near Ljubljana, Slovenia. Differences in dimensions of vessels from early- to latewood, as well as their variability around the stem circumference, were studied in each tree-ring. The measurements were performed in tree-rings divided into bands, according to "weekly increment method". Dimensions of vessels (surface area, minimum and maximum diameter) were measured in each band, corresponding to weekly increment. The surface area of the firstly formed vessels was 3.1-times larger than in the lastly formed vessels. The minimum diameter was 1.65-times larger, and the maximum diameter was 1.81-times larger than the corresponding values of the lastly formed vessels. The data revealed statistically significant differences in the surface area between the firstly and the lastly formed vessels, and also among tree-rings formed in different years. The same was found for maximum and minimum diameters. Comparison of the surface areas of the firstly and the lastly formed vessels of 2008 growth season showed the highest relative standard deviation (RSD). RSDs of minimum and maximum diameters were similar among different years and between the firstly and the lastly formed vessels. Minimum and maximum diameters of the vessels proved to be the most relevant quantitative vessel data since they had the smallest RSD. It was also noticed that the surface area of the vessels remained rather constant until June 19 (170th DOY), then it was slightly decreasing until August 8 (220th DOY), and after that it remained more or less constant. Similar trends were observed also for minimum and maximum vessel diameters.
